Your Trip
You will be visiting Denmark for a little over two weeks in December. As you can imagine the country will be full of spirit and cheer, so get ready for christmas; Denmark style.
Day 1 (December 15th)
- The first day of your trip will be dedicated to unpacking and getting settled. You will probably be tired and jet-lagged from the flight and time change. Not to worry, you will have plenty of time for sightseeing.
- This day will be dedicated to touring the city of Copenhagen where you will be staying. The beautiful and colorful streets will be covered with a blanket of snow. This time of year the city is lit up with Christmas lights. This day is all about getting to know the place you will be staying in for the next couple weeks.
- On the third day of your trip you will be going cross country skiing. Because most of Denmark is flat, cross country skiing is the hobby of choice for most. There are many places to rent skis, and lots of groomed trails to try out the sport.
- Although Denmark is flat, there are many indoor ski hills, including the world's biggest ski dome. You will glide right from cross country to downhill with just a quick drive. Again, there are many places to rent skis, boots, helmets and poles.
- This day will be dedicated to another very popular sport in the winter months in Denmark. Ice skating is a fun activity to use up a day of your vacation. You can rent skates for a very low price in most shops and don't need any other equipment.
- Assuming you will be pretty tired from three consecutive days of snow sports, you will need this day to rest. You can see a movie in one of the local theaters or just stay at your hotel and watch one there. You can pretty much do whatever you want as long as you get some rest. For dinner you will be going to Restaurant Krebsegaarden. The food is based off of their current art pieces located in Gallery Krebsen, and you are sure to love both the dishes and very unique atmosphere.
- These three days will be dedicated to hiking. After your day of rest, you will have plenty of energy to explore Denmark's many great trails. Hiking is a very popular hobby in this country. Although it will be cold it will still be beautiful.
- On this day you will be going to the Tivoli Gardens Christmas Market. This is a very popular market in Denmark. It is filled with entertainment and beautiful lights.
- On this day you will be sledding. Sledding is a great way to spend one of your last days in Denmark. Humans cannot fly, but sledding is the closest thing.
- Although it is too cold for most to swim, walking on the beach is still fun and breathtaking. The ocean is just as lovely in the winter. You can find washed up pieces of amber, better known by the danish as "gold nuggets".
- On the thirteenth day you will be breaking out your swimsuits. You will be traveling to Hvinde Sande to the marvelous Nordsø Badeland. At this family friendly water park you will have the opportunity to have a blast or relax your sore muscles before your flight.
- Sadly, your last day will be dedicated to packing up your things. You will be flying back to Montana tomorrow, and will need to have all of your things together and ready to go. On this day you will also have time to say farewell to the beautiful city; Copenhagen.
